Population: The current population of Eritrea is 5,402,908.

Climate: There are two rainy seasons in Eritrea. The main rainy season which is from June to August is mostly in the highland and in the western lowlands while the eastern escarpment enjoys rainfall from September to November. 

Religion: The population of Eritrea is equally divided between Christian (Orthodox Church, Roman Catholic and Lutheran protestants) and Muslim religions. The population of the high plateau (Asmara) is predominantly Christian, whereas that of the lowlands and the coast are predominantly Muslim.

Capital: Asmara, the capital city of Eritrea, is without a doubt the safest city in Africa and arguably one of the safest; if not the safest city this planet has to offer. Crime in Asmara is virtually unheard of and most of the city’s residences often leave their homes, car doors and bikes unlocked.

 

Language: There are nine languages in Eritrea. Tigrinya (50%) and Arabic are the working languages. The other languages are Tigre (40%), Afar (4%), Saho (3%), Bega (Beja), Bilen, Nara and Kunama. English and Italian are also widely understood.
