Basic Information About Ghana:

Population: The population of Ghana is 28,298,351.

GDP:  $108.3 billion (2016)

Climate: The climate of Ghana is tropical. The eastern coastal belt is warm and comparatively dry, the south-west corner of Ghanais hot and humid, and the north of Ghana is hot and dry. Ghana is located on the Gulf of Guinea, only a few degrees north of the Equator, giving it a warm climate. The climate of Ghana is tropical and there are two main seasons: the wet and the dry seasons. North Ghana experiences its rainy season from March to November while South Ghana experiences its rainy season from April to mid-November.  

People:  47.5% Akan. 16.6% Dagbani-Mole. 13.9% Ewe. 7.4% Ga-Adangbe. 

Religion:  Traditional religions accounts for 5.2% of the population. The Christian population also accounts for 71.2% of the total population and includes Roman Catholics, Baptist, Protestants, etc. The Muslim population (17.6 percent of the total) is located chiefly in the northern part of the country.

Capital:  Accra, capital and largest city of Ghana, southeastern Ghana, on the Gulf of Guinea. Accra is an important commercial, manufacturing, and communications center.

Language:  English is the official language of Ghana and is universally used in schools in addition to nine other local languages. The most widely spoken local languages are, Ga, Dagomba, Akan and Ewe.

Currency:  The Ghanaian Cedi is the currency of Ghana.
