Basic Information About Tanzania:

Population: The current population of the United Republic of Tanzania is 55,852,276.

GDP: $127.1 billion (2016)

Climate: The climate is tropical and coastal areas are hot and humid, while the northwestern highlands are cool and temperate. There are two rainy seasons; the short rains are generally from October to December, while the long rains last from March to June. The central plateau tends to be dry and arid throughout the year. 

Religion: Islam is the religion of about 35% of the people of Tanzania. On the mainland, Muslim communities are concentrated in coastal areas, with some large Muslim majorities also in inland urban areas especially and along the former caravan routes. More than 99% of the population of the Zanzibar archipelago is Muslim.

Capital: Dodoma officially Dodoma Urban District, is the national capital of Tanzania.

Language: The Bantu Swahili language and English, the latter of which was inherited from colonial rule (see Tanganyika Territory), are widely spoken as lingua francas. They serve as the two official working languages. There are more speakers of Swahilithan English in Tanzania.

Currency: The Tanzanian Shilling is the currency of Tanzania.
