Basic Information About Uganda:

Population: The current population of Uganda is 40,855,000.

GDP: $76.9 billion (2016)

 

Climate: Uganda has a tropical climate, with temperatures ranging from 21-25°C (70- 77°F), apart from in the mountainous areas, which are much cooler; the top of Mount Elgon is often covered with snow. The hottest months are December to February. 

Religion: Over 84 percent of the population was Christian while about 14 percent of the population adhered to Islam. In 2009, the northern and west Nile regions were dominated by Roman Catholics, and Iganga District in the east of Uganda had the highest percentage of Muslims.

 

Capital: Kampala is the capital city of Uganda. 

Language: English, inherited from the colonial period, and Swahili, which is regionally important, are official languages.  Forty of its living indigenous languages fall into three main families — Bantu, Nilotic, and Central Sudanic — with another two languages in the Kuliak family.

Currency: The Ugandan Shilling is the currency of Uganda.
