Basic Information About Nepal:

Population: The population of Nepal is 29,004,795.

Climate:  Nepals climate is influenced by maritime and continental factors, and has four distinct seasons. Spring lasts from March to May, and is warm with rain showers and temperatures around 22°C. Summer, from June to August, is the monsoon season when the hills turn lush and green. Summer (between June – August): This is also the monsoon season in Nepal. The weather is hot and wet at times. Autumn (between September – November): This is the best tourist season in Nepal with the summer gone by and the winter to set in. The weather is highly pleasant so are the mountain views.  

People:  Ethnic groups of mountain origin are the Bhotia, Thakali and Sherpa. Hill ethnics include the traditional Gurkha tribes (Gurung, Magar, Limbu, Rai) who account for 14.1 percent of the total population. Other populous hill ethnics are the Tamang (5.5 percent) and the Newar (5.6 percent).

Religion: 80.62 percent of Nepalese were Hindu, 10.74 percent Buddhist, 4.20 percent Muslim, 3.60 percent Kirant (an indigenous religion), 0.45 percent Christian, and 0.4 percent were classified as other groups such as Bön religion.

Capital:  The capital of Nepal is Kathmandu.

Language:  Nepali is an Indo-Aryan language spoken mainly in Nepal.

Currency:  The Nepalese Rupee is the currency of Nepal.
