Climate:  The Pacific coast around Guanacaste is hot and dry, perfect for the many world-class beaches. Costa Rica itself has an average temperature of 70 F to 81 F. There is no real summer or winter in Costa Rica and the rainy season here lasts from May to November, with the months of December through April having little to no rain and September and October being the heaviest rain period. 

Costa Rica is a rugged, rainforested Central American country with coastlines on the Caribbean and Pacific. Though its capital, San Jose, is home to cultural institutions like the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum, Costa Rica is known for its beaches, volcanoes, and biodiversity. Roughly a quarter of its area is made up of protected jungle, teeming with wildlife including spider monkeys and quetzal birds.

People:  Costa Ricans (Spanish: Costarricenses), also called Ticos, are from a multiethnic Spanish speaking nation in Central America called Costa Rica.

Religion:  70.5% of the population identify themselves as Roman Catholics (with 44.9% practicing, 25.6 percent non practicing), 13.8% are Evangelical Protestants, 11.3% report that they do not have a religion, and 4.3% declare that they belong to another religion.

Capital:  San José is the capital of Costa Rica and is the nation’s largest city.

Language:  Spanish is the official language; however, English is widely spoken also. Within differing indigenous communities, a variety of indigenous languages are used.

Currency: The Costa Rican Colon is the currency of Costa Rica.
