Climate: According to Köppen’s climate classification, Finland belongs wholly to the temperate coniferous-mixed forest zone with cold, wet winters. The mean temperature of the warmest month is no lower than 10°C and that of the coldest month no higher than -3°C. Rainfall is moderate in all seasons. The snow season in northern Finland begins in November and lasts at least until May. In the inland regions of southern and central Finland, the first snow falls at the beginning of December and melts during late March and April.
People: 5.1% Swedes, 5.2% Sami, 5.3% Romani, 5.4% Jews, 5.5% Russians and 5.6% Tatars.
Religion: There are presently two national churches (as opposed to state churches): the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland, which is the primary state religion and has a membership of about three quarters of the population, and the Finnish Orthodox Church, to which about one percent of the population belongs.
Capital: Helsinki is the capital of Finland.
Language: The two main official languages of Finland are Finnish and Swedish. There are also several official minority languages: three variants of Sami, Romani, Finnish Sign Language and Karelian.
Currency: The euro is the official currency of Finland.
