Oman
Basic Information About Oman:
Population: The population of Oman is 4,725,669.
GDP: $ 162.4 billion (2016)
Climate: The Climate of Oman can be described as subtropical dry, hot desert climate with low annual rainfall, very high temperatures in summer and a big difference between maximum and minimum temperatures, especially in the inland areas. Summer (June to September) is very low rainfall. The redeeming summertime feature is the khareef, the mid-June to late-August rainy season in southern Oman. Many Gulf visitors flock to this area to picnic under the drizzle on Dhofar’s’s grassy hills. The rain (and the green) vanishes by mid-September.
People: Most of Oman’s population is Arab, which is an ethnic group of people from the Arabian Peninsula, on which Oman sits at the tip. Like all Arab people, the Omanis aren’t truly a singular ethnicity, but rather have traces of various other ethnicities that have been introduced.
Religion: The majority of Omanis are Ibadi Muslims, followers of Abd Allah ibn Ibad. Ibadhism, a form of Islam distinct from Shi’ism and the “orthodox” schools of Sunnism, historically has been the country’s dominant religious group, and the sultan is a member of the Ibadhi community.
Capital: Muscat is the capital and largest metropolitan city of Oman.
Language: Arabic is the official language of Oman.
Currency: The Omani Rial is the currency of Oman.
Time Zone: UTC+04:00
