Riga Latvia
Today 10 March, 2026 I’m still in Riga, the beautiful capital of Latvia. I’ve got two more days here before I hop on a bus south to Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania.
I even tried to stop by the Embassy of Belarus in Riga this morning to see about a visa… but apparently the embassy and I were not on the same schedule today 😆.
While exploring this part of the world, I’ve been learning more about the Baltic States — Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Three small countries on the map, but each with a very different story:
• Estonia (north) feels very Nordic and tech-forward — one of the most digital societies in the world.
• Latvia sits in the middle and is known for its beautiful medieval towns, forests, and deep cultural traditions.
• Lithuania (south) is the largest of the three and has a long and powerful history, once forming one of the largest empires in Europe.
All three nations share something powerful though — resilience. They regained independence after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 and today are thriving democracies, members of NATO and the European Union.
It’s amazing what you learn when you simply step outside your comfort zone and explore the world. Every city, every country, every conversation adds another page to the story of life.
So wherever you are in the world today… go learn something new, meet someone different, and live the hell out of your 24 hours.
